Winter Garden Cleanup
The Willmore Heritage Garden
701 Maine Ave. via 8th St.

It’s that time of year again! Our low maintenance, low water use Garden needs its semi-annual cleanup. Please join the WCHA and neighbors and friends as we cut back the grasses and plants, getting ready for a spectacular spring bloom. Created by our community, the Garden is also maintained solely by us. Certi-fied Horticulturist, Kathleen Irvine will be on hand to answer your pressing questions about California Native Plants—the how, when and why of choosing, planting and maintaining—as well as any other garden related topics you might have. Light snacks will be served.. Contact Kathleen Irvine for more information: 818-470-0005  bluegecko3@charter.net

7:00 pm – 8:30 pm Neighborhood Meeting:
Dan Pressburg presents the former Long Beach Dairy and Creamery
BONUS come and sample NEW Long Beach Creamery Ice Cream Drake Park – 951 Maine Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90813
Please join friends and neighbors for a very special Thanksgiving meeting as local Community Activist and Historian, Dan Pressburg speaks about his historic landmark home, The former Long Beach Dairy and Creamery and other interesting pieces of our City’s history According to Mr. Pressburg: The LBD&C is the first Mills Act property in the city of Long Beach. We received Landmark status in 1994. The home is the only Victorian Farmhouse of its kind in Long Beach. It was originally believed to be part of Rancho San Pedro as the Los Angeles River was a dividing line between the two Ranchos, Los Cerritos and San Pedro. We became part of Rancho Los Cerritos/Long Beach. The Long Beach Dairy and Creamery moved in 1910/1911 to 4th Street and operated there until 1924 when the herd was wiped out by hoof and mouth disease. The Bixby’s purchased the Long Beach Dairy and Creamery and it became part of The Bixby Rancho Los Alamitos operations. The name the Long Beach Dairy and Creamery was changed just to the Creamery after that. Everything old is new again, so to compliment Mr. Pressburgs visit, we will also welcome Dina Amadril, owner of Long Beach Creamery, who creates organic ice cream in the most incredible, creative flavors, many with ingredients sourced from local Long Beach farms and gardens. She will be bringing her delicious ice cream treats for us to try. Donate to her mini Kickstarter and you can take a cup, a pint, or a pop home with you!
This is a FREE event, all welcome to attend.Preceding the Haunted Long Beach Talk will be community updates from: * WCHA projects / neighborhood announcements * Long Beach Police Department – South Division * 1st District Council Office
