Thank you’s, Willmore Police Center closing, and more

Thank you  for participating  in our wonderful summer events thus far:  Annual Summer Fundraiser, Concert in the Park + Rummage Sale, National Night Out Ice Cream Social, and the Neighborhood Clean-up.   Listed below are several more events happening very soon.  We hope you will attend and  continue to keep our neighborhood great!

WCHA was sad to learn the Willmore Community Police Center and two additional Center’s will be closing as of October 1st.  We will greatly miss the City’s direct presence in our neighborhood, along with the continuous support from Teresa Gonzalez.  If you are around 910 Daisy in the coming weeks please drop-in and thank Teresa for all that she does and will continue to do for neighborhood.  Luckily for us, Teresa and the entire Neighborhood Services Department will be moving to 100 West Broadway, which is only a short / healthy stroll away.    This is also the same building Code Enforcement currently occupies. We are very fortunate the  Neighborhood Resource Center will  remain OPEN!!!

The Willmore Community Police Center has been the location of our monthly Code Enforcement and Neighborhood meetings.  The WCHA Board gathered over the weekend to discuss potential future meeting locations and to decide what to do with WCHA items currently stored at the Center.  We feel this organization is very resilient and continues to evolve with the times.  We will keep you updated via the website, newsletter, and Facebook page as we move forward.  If you have additional questions or comments  regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact WCHA President, Amy Peters at 562.708.0530 or via email.

On a final note, there are a few items left over from the Annual Summer Fundraiser.  The first four people to sign-up or renew  their WCHA Annual Membership (ONLY $20) will receive one of the items as a gift.  The prizes are:  $25 gift card to Target, $25 gift card to Kress Market, 1-month unlimited pass to Free Spirit Yoga a $100 value, and  2 week, unlimited pass to South Bay Fit Camp, expiration date is 10/31/11, after which time it is worth $25 towards classes, value is $169. Thanks for your time and have a wonderful week.

Go Willmore!

REMINDER:  Dine-In Night at Polly’s Pies next Wednesday 8/24/11

Everyone likes pie, right?  Well, now you can have your pie and eat it too!

In August, the WCHA takes the month off — no meeting and no newsletter.  Wait a minute!  This doesn’t mean you can’t still be involved in helping out our community!  Next  Wednesday, August 24th, there will be a “Dine-In Night” at Polly’s Pies on Atlantic Avenue, between the hours of 3:00pm and 8:30pm.  On that night, Polly’s Pies will donate 20% of their sales to our organization.  Please print a copy of the flyer attached here.  When you go on that day, you bring your flyer so that WCHA gets credit.

We look forward to seeing you there, bring friends and family and enjoy a home-style cooking, without the home-style cleanup — and of course, a delicious pie!
