Thanks to all who participated in this years May Day Festival at Drake Park. The day was a great success enjoyed by so many wonderful neighbors and community groups.
The WCHA Board would also like to thank President Emeritus Amy Peters and the entire Willmore City Courts and Ways Committee for the initial survey work they completed in 201o to create the Courts & Ways Improvement Plan. At the time Amy mentioned, “this presentation was created in the hopes that our Courts and Ways will soon get the recognition they deserve as public streets and gateways to many residents homes and lives.” Well that time has arrived thanks all our your efforts!
The City has recognized the potential of La Reina Way at Chestnut Avenue as sustainable urban greening demonstration project that will be funded through the Strategic Growth Council’s Urban Greening Grant Program. This particular project will close a portion of the Way to vehicular traffic and incorporate stormwater management features, native plants, permeable pavers and sustainable enhancements. We are grateful this project will serve as a model for transforming Long Beach’s aging infrastructure into intimately scaled pedestrian walkways.
Also the Code Enforcement Meetings will now be held every THREE months. See the announcement below for the schedule.
See you all on Tuesday at our monthly community meeting, it’s Movie Night!
Code Enforcement Meeting Postponed Until JUNE!!!

Annual Summer Potluck, Auction and Fundraiser
The WCHA is looking for donations for the Annual Summer Potluck, Auction and Fundraiser that benefits the WCHA and supports our events and projects. Among them, the Willmore Heritage Garden. We also support two youth soccer teams and various Downtown Long Beach Events.
Last year’s event was great fun and a big success — you can ask any of the attendees! This year the Fundraiser will be held on July 21, 2012 and adult beverages will be served. The food is always delicious and the bidding fierce. Please donate to this great event– it’s your chance to finally clean out your closets and organize your life! It will leave room for you to pick up a new and wonderful piece of furniture!
