April Community Meeting
Come and join us at the Bembridge House for a an evening packed with updates on our advancements in Willmore. We have an exciting lineup in store, featuring the historic preservation team from the Community Development department. They will be discussing the importance of historic preservation in Willmore City.
You will also have the opportunity to hear from the Council District 1's office, DLBA, and the South District’s Police Department. Your presence will be greatly appreciated!
Earth Day Festival
Willmore City Heritage Association and Sowing Seeds of Change have teamed up to host an incredible sustainability event. The Earth Day Festival will be held on Saturday, May 4th at the Sowing Seeds of Change Urban Farm from 11am-3pm. Sowing Seeds is an urban farm located in the heart of Willmore City that provides locally grown fresh food and vocational training to marginalized youth.
This free public event will offer workshops on sustainability, gardening/composting/seed saving, above-ground crop cultivation and green infrastructure. The festival will also include sustainable activities for children, hands-on activity booths, a farmer's market pantry to take home fresh produce, complimentary lunch, children's yoga, and many other exciting activities.

We've got a fantastic lineup planned, including a presentation from Silissa Uriarte, founder of Purpose Centered Coaching & Consulting and her incredible non-profit organization. Plus, you'll hear directly from Council District 1's office, DLBA, and South District’s Police Department. We hope to see you there!
A little more information on Purpose Centered Coaching & Consulting: Silissa Uriarte Smith founded PCCC in 2021 and received incorporation as a 501c3 in late 2022. The core aim of PCCC is to create inclusive, equitable, and accessible spaces for underserved women who require support to transform their own lives, families, and communities. PCCC offers individual and group coaching sessions, leadership development workshops, and networking events at low to no cost. Additionally, PCCC provides consulting services to emerging non-profits at sliding scale rates based on their organizational budgets. The services offered include coaching, strategic planning, capacity-building services, staff and board development, group facilitation, workshops, DEIB statements and policies, and retreats.
January Community Meeting
Join us on the 17th of January, Wednesday, at 7pm for our first community meeting of the year! We have exciting updates planned, including a visit from the Office of Sustainability and a report from Council District 1's office. We hope to see you there!
Un-decorate the Bembridge House
Lend a hand on Saturday, January 13th, starting at 9 am, to assist us in removing all of the holiday decorations off the Bembridge House!

Winter in Willmore
In previous years, Winter in Willmore provided hundreds of community members the opportunity to celebrate the holiday’s at Drake Park. This year, Winter in Willmore is making a change! The event will be held at the nationally recognized historic, Bembridge House. This event will be free and open to the public.
Winter in Willmore will include:
13 local market vendors to buy goodies from!
Pictures with Santa Claus himself.
5 children activities (holiday garlands, flower crowns, gingerbread decorating, and more)
Children school supplies to give away to community children.
Queen Victoria and Prince Albert will be making an appearance.
DJ Jasper playing in the background!

Northeast Villages Neighbors Toy Story!
In collaboration with Councilwoman Mary Zendejas, comes Northeast Village Neighbors Toy Giveaway on Saturday, December 16th from 12-2pm at Gumbiner Park! Joining them this year is Spark of Love - Friends of LB Firefighters! Toys will be available for 90813 children residents only. Child must be present!
Downtown Neighborhood Associations "Tiki Time" Holiday Mixer

CD1's 3rd Annual Holiday Party
Council District 1’s office invites you to their 3rd annual holiday party at the Westin Hotel on Wednesday, December 13th from 6:30-8pm! All our welcome - residents, community partners, and more! They will be providing refreshments.

EcoHarvest Festival
In collaboration with Sowing Seeds of Change, comes a unique one-of-a-kind event that celebrates our Willmore City/ Downtown Long Beach community and sustainability: EcoHarvest Festival.
This event will be free and open to the public and will include: children fall activities (face painting, pumpkin succulent planters, harvest flower crowns, fruit garlands, and more), wonderful local community resources, giveaways of totes of school supplies, giveaway of turkey’s, donated books, a farmers market pantry with fresh fruits and veggies, a clothing swap, entertainment, and more.

Neighborhood Clean-up
Join us on Saturday, October 21st, from 9–11 a.m. for a neighborhood clean-up! We will be focusing our efforts from Maine Avenue to Magnolia Ave (7th-10th Street). All cleaning supplies and a dumpster are provided by Long Beach Development Services. See you there!

In connection with all of the downtown neighborhood associations, join WCHA for a neighborhood social at the newest business on Pine: Altar Society Brewing Co. As a welcome to the neighborhood, let’s get together to support this amazing brewing co. located in the historic 1903 Masonic Temple building. Pizza will be provided/ Beer to be purchased by you. Sowing Seeds of Change has a mission to empower our participants to discover and and actively engage in a local food system that encourages healthy living, nurtures the environment, and grows a sustainable community through vocational training, youth entrepreneurship, and leadership opportunities.
Join us on Wednesday, September 20th at 7 p.m. to learn more about Sowing Seeds of Change from their wonderful founders, Lindsey and Dina. We will also have a speaker from Council District 1 and South Division Police Officer, Officer Betanzos. This will be available to give us community updates.
Our topics for this meeting will include: advocacy, upcoming projects, historic preservation, neighborhood clean-ups, and more. We look forward to having you!
District 1 Night - Aquarium of the Pacific
Join WCHA for a fun evening at the Aquarium of the Pacific with our wonderful community and District 1 Councilwoman Mary Zendejas. There will be beautiful exhibits to see and a special performance by Long Beach Symphony. Pre-registration is required. Please RSVP Here.

Annual WCHA Auction
Join us Sunday, August 27th from 1-5pm at the Bembridge House for WCHA’s Annual Auction! Support our continued efforts to preserve, protect, and improve Willmore City. We will have live music, food, and margartias! We will also hold a live and silent auction which will consist of gift cards and baskets of items donated from wonderful businesses in Long Beach.

Ice Cream Social - National Night Out
We are happy to announce National Night Out's ice cream social is back! We will be hosting the Long Beach Police Department as a thank you for protecting our Willmore City community. This event will be at the beautiful Bembridge House on Tuesday, August 1st, from 4-7 p.m. Let’s beat the heat together and celebrate LBPD with friends, family, and the community!
