Mills Act Property Tax Abatement Program

The City of Long Beach Community Development Department is reopening the Mills Act Program for historic properties for the 2024 application period.

The Mills Act offers property owners tax relief as a financial incentive to restore, rehabilitate, or maintain historic properties (all properties within the Willmore City Historic District are classified as a historic property). This requires entering into a Mills Act contract with the City, outlining the details of the commitment.

If you are interested in applying for a Mills Act contract, the Community Development Department will be hosting two mandatory public workshops:

Pre-Application Workshop (In Person)
Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024   I   10am-12pm
Ernest McBride Park & Cal Rec Community Center

Application Workshop (Virtual)
Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024  I   10am-12pm

Historic Preservation

What truly stands out in the Willmore City historic district are the vast amounts of beautiful historic homes. Willmore City Heritage Association is here to answer any questions you may have about navigating the Historic Preservation department at Long Beach Development Services (LBDS) and applying for a Certificate of Appropriateness when it comes to making any changes to your historic home.
