An Exciting Spin on This Month's Recipe!

Chef Alan had a taste of these treats at the recent Historic District Meeting at the Bembridge house and was impressed. You are sure to love them too. A very special thanks to Michele Arend-Ekhoff from Craftsman’s Village Historic District for the recipe.
To Start:
Preheat oven 350 degrees
Grease a 13x9 inch baking pan
Ingredients:
2 sticks of sweet butter
1 cup of brown sugar
1 egg yolk
2 cups of unbleached all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup of coarsely chopped
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar together
Add egg and beat well
Sift in flour mixing well
Add vanilla
Spread batter into baking pan
Bake for 25 minutes
Cover the cake with chocolate chips and return to the oven for 4 minutes to melt
Remove from oven and spread melted chocolate evenly and top with chopped nuts
Cool completely before cutting into about 30 bars
